USA government news - Green card cost might increase

The price for getting a green card might be increasing, however the cost for applying for a USA citizenship will probably remain as it is and will not increase.

The Obama government has suggested rising the submission fee for a USA green card -- given to foreigners. A USA green card gives foreigners the ability to legally live and work in the U.S. The current proposal suggests increasing the green card application price from $930 to $985. The payment for required fingerprinting also would go up $5 to $85, for a total of $1,070.

Foreigners who are interested in becoming U.S. citizens must have held a U.S green card for 5 years before they are eligible to apply for citizenship, which costs $595 plus the fingerprinting fee.
